Get a notification on your phone or computer when Jersey Met issues a new or upgraded weather warning. Pick your device below and follow the steps — it takes about a minute.
Jersey Weather Chat is a volunteer-run community group, founded in 2011, with a free website at jerseyweatherchat.com. Since October 2026 the site has offered optional phone notifications that pass on Jersey Met’s published weather warnings when a new warning is issued or an existing one is upgraded. Every alert says it is automated, credits Jersey Met as the issuer and points people to gov.je for the official warning. It is meant to help more people see Jersey Met’s warnings, never to replace them.
We would genuinely welcome your views, and will change the wording, the way the service works, or stop it altogether if asked.
Email [email protected], or message Matthew through the Jersey Weather Chat Facebook group.
Jersey Weather Chat is run by volunteers in Jersey. We hold very little personal data, and only to run this site. We are registered with the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner as a non-profit data controller (registration no. 104194).
Warning alerts: if you tap ALERT ME, we store the notification address your browser creates, your browser type, and when you signed up and last visited. We use them only to send alerts. Tap TURN OFF to delete them at any time; addresses that stop working are removed automatically.
Storm reports: we keep the name you give, your report and any photo link, and your email address only if you ask for a copy. Reports form part of our storm archive; ask us and we will remove yours.
Visits: we use Google Analytics to count visits to the site.
Where it is kept: in our Google account, and it passes through GitHub and your phone or browser maker’s notification service (Google, Apple or Mozilla), so it may be held outside Jersey. We never sell or share it, and never use it for advertising.
Your rights: to see, correct or delete your data, email [email protected]. If you are unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner.
